Sochi policeman hospitalized after shootout in Sochi


In Sochi, a policeman received a gunshot wound, when checking documents of a 53-year-old man. The latter was detained; and the policeman was hospitalized with a wound into the forearm, the ICRF reports.
The incident occurred on February 5 in the settlement of Sergey Pole, Lazarevskoe District of Sochi. According to investigators, two policemen saw a "suspicious citizen" and demanded from him to present his documents. He took out a firearm and shot at the policemen. The second policeman opened a return fire, but the man managed to escape. He was detained later.
The 53-year-old resident of Sochi is charged with encroachment on the life of a law enforcer (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (CCRF)) and illicit arms trafficking (Article 222 of the CCRF), the website of the Investigating Department of the ICRF for the Krasnodar Territory has reported today.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the detainee or his representatives with respect to the investigators' version.
