In Adygeya, an exhibition of books devoted to Circassia and Circassians


Exhibition of unique books and photographs of travelers on 18-19 centuries about Circassia and Circassians "Last Knights of Country" started its work in the scientific library of Adyghe State University in Maykop, republic of Adygeya.

The exhibition is made up of the personal archive of Circassian (Adyghe) scientist and public figure  Ph.D. Batiray Ezbeka (Yedidj) and linguist, Doctor of Philology Zeinab Kerashev. The exhibition  showing more than 100 books on the history of Circassia, Caucasian travel and exploration, the peoples of the Caucasus and their struggle for independence, the heroic epic and so on. 

The collection is exhibited in the department of rare books library, about 80% of the collection are original. 

Among the originals one of the oldest books - "Travels in Circassia" Edmund Spenser, in two volumes, published in London in 1838 and 1839 in English. 
Also unique is the original book "Kabardino-Hungarian-Latin dictionary", which, according to library staff, there is only one today, many years, scientists thought the book lost.
