A resident of Nalchik suspected of extorting money was wounded by policemen in the city center. The policemen opened fire on the man after he tried to render armed resistance.
The incident took place at about 3:00 p.m. Moscow time on June 23. According to investigators, the 52-year-old resident of Nalchik, who had earlier criminal record for a serious crime, was detained at the place, where he extorted money. When the policemen were examining the place of the crime, the suspect took a submachine gun from one of the policemen, opened fire on them and then tried to escape. The attacker was wounded by return fire and detained. He was brought to the hospital.
The man got a minor gunshot wound. He is the only victim of the incident.
A car parked not far from the place of the incident was damaged, the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria" reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). According to the RIA "Kabardino-Balkaria", the incident occurred at the intersection of Keshokov Street and Lenin Avenue in Nalchik.
