About 50 residents of Sochi rally against high-rise building

A rally of residents of Pasechnaya Street was held in Sochi, which, according to organizers, brought together about 50 people. They demanded to stop the construction of multi-storey buildings, threatening their houses, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The reason for the rally was the construction launched near No. 61 in Pasechnaya Street.

"It was back on February 16 that tenants of our house addressed in writing to the head of Sochi on the issue of the illegal construction, launched in dangerous proximity to our apartment building; however, within two months we received no response. During this time, the road next to our house cracked. We fear that our house may collapse. But no one cares," Vasily Kozharin, a protester, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The rally decided to send an appeal to the authorities stating that the construction of the multi-storey buildings is conducted on a landslide slope over the land plot allocated for individual housing construction, which creates, in their opinion, a threat to approximately one thousand people living next to the construction site.
