Meteorite found in Kabardino-Balkaria (North Caucasus)

Russian Geographical Society (RGS) researchers have found a meteorite in Kabardino-Balkaria, which fell in the mountains of the republic in 1913.

According to the chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Victor Kotlyarov, he received the information about the fallen meteorite by accident when he was looking through old pre-revolutionary newspapers. One of them contained the information about the celestial body and the approximate coordinates of the fall.

It was found out during studies that the diameter of the meteorite was about 2 meters. Regional specialists believe that the finding may attract tourists and become one of the attractions of the republic, Russian Planet reports.
