31 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus


In August 2014, at least 31 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of whom 21 people died and 10 were wounded. These are the results of calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Dagestan is in the lead by the number of victims, where in August there were 24 victims: 16 people were killed and eight more wounded. During armed clashes and special operations 11 suspected members of the armed underground were killed, apart of two civilians lost and one wounded. In the armed clashes with alleged members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), three power agents were killed and seven others were wounded.

In August, Kabardino-Balkaria had six victims: four were killed and two were wounded. During special operations, three suspected members of the armed underground were killed, and two law enforcers were wounded. One civilian was killed in the attacks.

One civilian was killed in August in North Ossetia in an attack of unidentified persons.

In Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya and Stavropol Territory no victims of the armed conflict were recorded in August 2014.
