On October 20-26, seven persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus


During the week of October 20-26, 2014, at least seven persons fell victims to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, four persons were killed, and three others were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes four suspected members of the armed underground - two in Dagestan, one in Kabardino-Balkaria and one in Chechnya.

Attacks on law enforcers

On October 24, in the Prokhladnoe District of Kabardino-Balkaria, the police attempted to detain a suspected accomplice of militants. The suspect opened fire on the law enforcers, and he was killed in the shootout. One policeman got a slight wound as a result of the armed clash.

On October 25, the Chechen authorities reported that in a wooden area in the vicinity of the village of Kadi-Yurt and Engel-Yurt in the Gudermes District, two armed members of an illegal armed formation (IAF) were blocked during a search operation. When law enforcers tried to detain the militants, one of them rendered armed resistance and was killed. The law enforcers are searching for the other militant, and there is information he is wounded. No law enforcers suffered as a result of the armed clash.

Special and counterterrorist operations

Starting from 10:00 a.m. of October 22, law enforcers began to accumulate military vehicles near the village of Gimry of the Untsukul District of Dagestan. According to the information available at 11:00 a.m., the village of Gimry was cordoned off. After they cordoned off the village, the law enforcers started go around households for checks.

On October 24, in Dagestan, during the special operation carried out in the village of Charoda of the Tlyaratin District, law enforcers encountered suspected IAF members in one of the houses. The suspects were offered to surrender; however, they opened fire on the fighters of special forces. As a result of the armed clash, one law enforcer was slightly wounded, and both militants were killed. No civilians suffered in the armed clash.

Bombings and terror acts

At about 4 a.m. of October 25, an explosion occurred near a three-storey office building in Toturbiev Street in Khasavyurt. As a result of the explosion, the office of advocate Aida Kasimova was destroyed. According to the advocate, she cannot state with absolute certainty that the explosion was committed because of her activities; however, she works with a lot of resonant cases, including those under articles "Terrorism", "Involvement in IAFs", "Attempt on life of a law enforcer". Recently, Aida Kasimova received threats regarding one of her cases.

Attacks on civilians

At about 6:00 a.m. of October 24, unidentified law enforcers broke into an apartment of residents of Makhachkala in the Separatorny village. They used force against older persons with disabilities and demanded to reveal the whereabouts of their son Kamil Guliev. He associates the close attention of the law enforcers with his charity activities aimed at Muslims through the social networks.

Detentions

On October 24, in the village of Alkhan-Kala located not far from Grozny, law enforcers detained two 21-year-old and 26-year-old residents of the Grozny District of Chechnya, suspected of aiding and abetting a member of the armed underground. Both suspects signed recognizance not to leave.
