Zaur Tokhov, sentenced for attack on Nalchik, hospitalized

27 March 2015, Zaur Tokhov, a man sentenced in the case on the attack on Nalchik, who needs back surgery, has been hospitalized to the Republican Clinical Hospital. This was reported by his advocate Ramzan Uzuev.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 16, the council of physicians concluded that Zaur Tokhov required surgery. On March 24, his wife reported that the hospitalization of her husband was planned for the next day. According to his wife, Zaur Tokhov is to undergo surgery within a week. However, the hospitalization of Zaur Tokhov was postponed until March 27.
On December 23, 2014, Zaur Tokhov was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony in the case of the militants' attack on Nalchik committed on October 13, 2005. Like most of the convicts in the case, Zaur Tokhov filed an appeal against the verdict to the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia. The complaint has not been considered yet.
According to Ramzan Uzuev, Zaur Tokhov has agreed to surgical treatment of his herniated disc. The advocate has added that the surgery is scheduled for March 31.
It should be noted that Zaur Tokhov underwent the first back surgery in June 2012. However, during the trial in the case, the court did not announce the decision not to keep Zaur Tokhov in custody. The second medical commission has also confirmed his serious health condition; however, the third medical commission has decided that Zaur Tokhov does not suffer from any disease, because of which it would be possible to soften the pre-trial restriction measure.
