Russian authorities say security forces have killed six militants in the restive North Caucasus region of Kabardino-Balkaria.
The National Antiterrorism Committee (NAK) said on August 3 that the militants were cornered in an apartment building overnight during a counterterrorism operation in the republic's capital, Nalchik.
The report comes two weeks after six alleged militants were killed in a special operation by security forces in Nalchik.
The mostly Muslim regions of Russia's North Caucasus are plagued by attacks and fighting between security forces and militants in an Islamist insurgency stemming from two post-Soviet separatist wars in Chechnya, which is east of Kabardino-Balkaria.
