Activists of the "Youth Yabloko" have held a series of solo pickets at the buildings of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), demanding to investigate the murder of Timur Kuashev, a journalist and social activist from Kabardino-Balkaria.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 1, 2014, the body of Timur Kuashev, a rights defender and public figure, was found in a suburb of the city of Nalchik. According to investigators, a trace of an injection was found on his body. In December 2014, investigators reported interrogation of more than 80 people and collection of nine volumes of case files about the death of Timur Kuashev. However, in January 2015, a petition was posted on the website "change.org", stating that investigators' questions to witnesses were just formal.
Being a member of the "Yabloko" Party, an oppositionist and rights defender, Kuashev "received numerous threats related to his activities," said Nikolai Kavkazskiy, the chairman of the Moscow branch of the "Youth Yabloko".
According to his story, the petition posted on the website "change.org" has been already signed by 845 people.
Earlier, an objective and impartial investigation of all the circumstances of Kuashev's death was demanded by the OSCE, UNESCO, Union of Journalists of Russia, and many well-known public and political figures.
