In Kabardino-Balkaria, the Shalushka River is suffering an ecological disaster because of the discharges of sewage effluent. This was reported by local residents. According to the studies carried out by specialists of the "Kabbalkvodresursy", the concentration of nitrates and ammonium phosphate in water of the Shalushka River exceeds permissible level of pollution.
Yesterday, on October 6, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was contacted by farmers from the village of Shalushka, who drew attention to the fact that cattle refused to drink water from the Shalushka River.
Aslan Zhereshtiev, the head of a farm, has reported said that since the late summer, his cows and horses stopped drinking water from the Shalushka River. Meanwhile, he has noticed that the water in the river smells not good.
Aslan Zhereshtiev began to look for the reason of the spoiled water in the Shalushka River, and on the outskirts of Nalchik, he found a collector under a bridge, which discharges water of unknown origin into the Shalushka River.
Experts from the laboratory of the Federal State Institution (FSI) "Kabbalkvodresursy" informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on October 5, they analyzed the water samples from the Shalushka River and revealed high content of nitrates and ammonium phosphates.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has reported that they informed about the situation with the discharges to the Shalushka River by local residents on October 5.
"The Minister has issued an order. Tomorrow, a commission will leave for the place, and appropriate measures will be taken," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by the Assistant to the Minister.
