Sergey Arutyunov calls on for immediate help to descendants of Muhajirs

Sergey Arutyunov, Correspondent Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), engaged in the studies of the Caucasus, has urged the federal authorities to help Syrian descendants of immigrants from Northern Caucasus and not to raise difficulties for those persons, who want to return to their historical homeland. "In connection with the flow of refugees from Syria and other Middle Eastern countries, I, Sergey Alexandrovich Arutyunov, Correspondent Member of the RAS, Chief of the Caucasus Department of the RAS Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (IEA), believe that all the Russian authorities, federal and republican ones, are to provide any kind of immediate assistance to all refugees, who are descendants of Caucasian Muhajirs, including their unconditional visa-free admission to the territory of Russia and assistance in their settlement in the territories of Adygea, the Krasnodar Territory, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, the Stavropol Territory, North Ossetia-Alania, Ingushetia, Chechnya, and Dagestan," declares the statement, received by the" Caucasian Knot".

"I treat as immoral and inhuman all acts and expressions of obstruction and excuses from these our obligations to descendants of our once-exiled compatriots," the document states.
