The heads of the Circassian republics in the Caucasus strengthening ties

Last month the heads of the three Circassian republics, Murat Kumpilov (Adygea), Rashid Timrizov (Karachy-Cherkessia) and Kazbek Kokov (Kabardino-Balkaria) met in the city of Cherkessk, the capital city of Karachay-Cherkessia.

The three leaders discussed ways to strengthen the economic and cultural relations of the three republics. Such meetings are held every two years or so.

The number of inhabitants of the three republics together is about two million people. Circassians 42 percent, Karachay-Balkar 18 percent, Russians 34 percent, other peoples 6 percent.
