On May 21, 2024, in the city of Maykop, the capital of the Republic of Adygea, a very shameful ceremony of the Day of Sorrow and Remembrance of the Circassian people took place.
Firstly, the ceremony took place not in the Philharmonic, as every year, but in the theater building on Pushkin Street, which is significantly smaller than the Philharmonic.
The second thing that is shameful is that the ceremony presented a spectacle in which not a single word was mentioned about the generals of the Russian Tsar who committed crimes against the Circassians during and at the end of the Russian-Caucasian War. From the performance we can understand that it is the Circassians who are to blame for the genocide committed against them.
The third thing that is shameful is that at the ceremony, not mourning songs were played, but ordinary songs, as if there was a festival of songs, and not a day of mourning and remembrance.
Fourth, and the most shameful thing, these are the words spoken by the chairman of the Adyhge Khase of Adygea, Ramzan Tlemeshok, and from his words one could understand that we must stop wearing mourning and we must live according to the current situation.
We made this title for the article because Ramazan Tlemeshok is the first chairman of the Adyhge Khase of Adygea, who dared and spoke about the need not to hold a day of mourning and memory of the Circassians who died in the Russian-Circassian War.
