In the gardening comradeship "Domostroitel", located adjacent to Nalchik, which was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, a man, who rendered armed resistance to law enforcers, was shot dead.
The CTO regime was introduced in the territory of the above comradeship, located in the Cherek District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) was introduced this morning at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time.
The casualty has been pre-identified as Atmir Kerefov, born in 1976, said the Russian National Anti-terrorism Committee (NAC).
In the house where he was hiding, power agents found a pistol with a silencer, ammunition, an RGD-5 grenade, rounds for a grenade launcher, several ready-to-use improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and components for making IEDs.
According to power agents, Kerefov refused to surrender; he was treated as "the organizer of the supply chain of weapons and explosives for the bandit gangs operating in the republic," the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the NAC.
During the CTO, which was carried out by the FSB (Federal Security Bureau) and the MIA (Ministry of Internal Affairs), people living nearby were evacuated. There are no victims among locals and power agents.
