Kabardino-Balkaria sets up teams of hunters to kill wolves

In Kabardino-Balkaria, officials have made a decision to create teams of hunters to deal with wolves. The government is considering the possibility to start paying rewards in 2016 for shooting of predators.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the beginning of October 2014, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) addressed hunters of the republic with a call to start destruction of predatory animals, and for that purpose, the Ministry authorized the use of devices forbidden in the usual hunting. Hunters themselves stated the need to stimulate the killings of wolves.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the KBR, in 2015, the number of wolves reached 311. Of them, 191 wolves were subject to hunting in accordance with the standards of density of predatory animals.
Each of the districts of the KBR, facing the urgent problem of the need to reduce the number of wolves, is to create a team of hunters for regular battue hunts, the State TV and Radio Company (STRC) "Stavropolye" reported on October 16 with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the KBR.
"Wolves do great damage to herds of agricultural enterprises, farmers, and wild population of ungulates, especially in the course of the retention of offspring," reports the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the KBR.
According to the Ministry, one wolf eats about 750 kilograms of meat per year and thereby does damage amounting to about 187,000 roubles.
