2 residents of Adygeya suspected of involvement in IS

The FSB Department for Adygea has initiated criminal cases against two local residents, suspected of involvement in the "Islamic State" (IS).

The criminal cases were initiated under Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of an illegal armed formation (IAF) or involvement therein). The maximum penalty stipulated by the Article is 15 years of imprisonment.

Both residents of the republic of Adygea are suspected of involvement in units of the "Islamic State" (IS) in the territory of Syria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the FSB Department for Adygea initiated in absentia four criminal cases against residents of Adygea, suspected of involvement in IAFs of the "Islamic State" (IS).

As at September 30, seven cases were revealed when residents of the town of Adygeisk had left for the Middle East, presumably, for the territory controlled by the IS. They left Adygea with their family members (21 people), including children under the age of nine years old, the "Adygea Today" reports with reference to Asker Shkhalakhov, Chairman of the Committee of Adygea for Nationalities, Relations with Compatriots and Media.
