On March 17, participants of the meeting of the Circassian organizations of Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria voiced a proposal to create a unified interregional organization to be engaged in the protection and development of culture of the Circassian people.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, the court started to consider the claim filed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Karachay-Cherkessia on the liquidation of the national movement "Adyge Khase-Circassian Parliament". On March 16, the parties agreed to settle the dispute peacefully.
On March 17, the Circassian activists held a meeting dedicated to the situation around the movement, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Timur Zhuzhuev, the leader of the youth organization "Adyge-Khase" of Karachay-Cherkessia.
"Circassians from different regions reacted very negatively to an attempt to liquidate the movement. A lot of people wanted to come from Adygea and Kabardino-Balkaria. However, the reasonable decision of the court has reduced the degree of tension, so only a delegation from Kabardino-Balkaria has arrived," said Timur Zhuzhuev.
The attempt to liquidate the movement is of a political nature, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Eldar Borov, a participant of the meeting, the Circassian activist from Kabardino-Balkaria.
At the meeting, it was proposed to create the interregional organization "Khase" which would unite the Circassians of the south of Russia. The new organization will allow the Circassians to solve their problems together and in consolidation, Eldar Borov reports.
