Circassian (Adyg) public figures see political motives in the lawsuit of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to liquidate the movement "Adyge Khase – Circassian Parliament". The situation around the movement will be discussed at a sitting of members of Circassian organizations of Southern Russia on March 17.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10 the Supreme Court of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) held a preliminary hearing on the lawsuit of the Department for KChR of the MoJ on liquidation of the republic's movement "Adyge Khase – Circassian Parliament".
The above lawsuit sent to the court on February 24 asserts that the movement violates the legislation of the Russian Federation, and its activities get beyond the Charter.
In his turn, Mukhamed Cherkesov, the head of the movement, has called the claims of the MoJ unjustified, stating that his organization is working strictly within the statutory provisions.
Valery Khatazhukov, the head of the Public Human Rights Centre of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), treats an attempt to liquidate the "Adyge Khase – Circassian Parliament" of the KChR as an abrasive political provocation.
"These actions are aimed at discrediting and displacing the movement leader Mukhamed Cherkesov and one of the steps towards complete and final destruction of the independent Circassian movement," Valery Khatazhukov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
