Kabardino-Balkaria Repblic: Mount Elbrus gets new ski piste

A new ski piste in the area of "Gara-Bashi"-"Mir" has been built in the course of the preparation for the new winter ski season on Mount Elbrus.
According to the administration of the Elbrus District of Kabardino-Balkaria, the construction included works to ensure safety of ski pistes. All the problem areas along the ski areas, from which rocks used to periodically fall on ski slopes, were reinforced with nets.
"For the winter ski season, we also plan to launch the third section of the cableway from 'Mir' station to 'Gara-Bashi' station. The construction is carried out according to the investment plan of Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) 'Resorts of Northern Caucasus'," reports the website of the administration.
The highest ski lift in Russia, located on Mount Elbrus, will be put in operation for this winter season. This was told by Maxim Guba, Deputy General Director of OJSC "Resorts of Northern Caucasus", interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". According to Maxim Guba, the upper station will be built at altitude of 3847 meters, and the length of the ski lift along the slope will be 1675 meters.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the third section of the cableway on Mount Elbrus has been under construction for more than five years. In December 2014, the OJSC "Resorts of Northern Caucasus" won the tender for the purchase of the third section of the cableway from "Mir" station to "Gara-Bashi" station, announced by the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria.
